Brussels, 8th February 2024 – SMC Founder and CEO Gerrit Feuerriegel recently attended the prestigious BIC Matchmaking Event in Brussels. Hosted by the Bio-based Industries Consortium (BIC), this event serves as a pivotal platform for fostering collaboration and innovation within Europe’s bio-based industries sector.
Established in 2013, BIC is a non-profit organization dedicated to representing the private sector in a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) with the European Commission. Its mission revolves around bolstering the bio-based industries sector throughout Europe, covering a diverse array of sectors such as agriculture, chemicals, forestry, and technology providers.
This year’s BIC Matchmaking Event witnessed over 270 participants and a record number of one-on-one meetings, underscoring the growing commitment among industry players, academia, and stakeholders to collaborate and drive innovation in Europe’s bio-based industries. The emphasis on networking, partnerships, and collaboration underscores the collective effort required to transition innovative ideas into market-ready solutions.
